Small Claims Court

The Small Claims Court has jurisdiction to hear matters for monetary claims up to $35,000 involving the recovery of personal property and damages.  If someone has violated your legal rights and caused you to suffer a loss, you may be able to start a lawsuit against them. However, you must start your lawsuit within a certain time. The type of claim you are bringing will determine the time limit that applies.

We provide representation and services to both Plaintiffs and Defendants within the jurisdiction of the Small Claims Court. The services we provide to Small Claims Court clients include: prepare Claim, Defence, or Defendant's Claim, file documentation with the Court, serve the opposing party, negotiate out of Court Settlement, prepare and attend Settlement Conference, prepare and attend Trial, prepare and attend Motion.

Administrative Tribunals

We offer full and effective representation at most of the tribunals in Ontario.  Tribunals are independent agencies responsible for making decisions and sometimes recommendations. Some tribunals deal with regulatory and licensing issues, others with entitlement to compensation or benefits, such us the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT.)

In addition, the Landlord and Tenant Board deals with matters under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006.  The Financial Services Tribunal has exclusive jurisdiction to exercise the powers conferred under the Financial Services Commission of Ontario Act, 1997 and other Acts that confer powers on or assign duties to the Tribunal. The Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario hears and determines applications brought under the Ontario Human Rights Code, the provincial statute that sets out human or civil rights in Ontario prohibiting discrimination on the basis of a number of grounds (such as race, sex or disability) in certain social areas (such as services, housing or employment.)

“I am confident that, in the end, common sense and justice will prevail. I'm an optimist, brought up on the belief that if you wait to the end of the story, you get to see the good people live happily ever after.”  Cat Stevens

Negotiations and Taking Affidavits

As for the services, with respect to negotiation and mediation, we have drawn lessons from Alternative Dispute Resolution to resolve disputes in a timely manner.  As we have mentioned, WL Paralegal Services has not only devoted itself in protecting the clients’ current benefits and resolving disputes between two sides, but also paid attention to rebuild the future relationship between opposed parties.  We have always put our clients’ best interests first.

Since July 1, 2013, the regulation has designated all licensed paralegals in Ontario as commissioners for taking affidavits by virtue of office.

Traffic Offences

If you have been charged under the Ontario Provincial Offences Act, we can defend you in the Ontario Court of Justice.  We can give legal advice concerning legal interests, rights or responsibilities with respect to a proceeding or the subject matter of a proceeding.  We can draft or assist with drafting documents for use in a proceeding.  We also can negotiate on behalf of our clients to a proceeding.

We are also specialized in fighting traffic tickets under the Highway Traffic Act. Whether it will be careless driving, driving under suspension or driving under influence, we have the knowledge and experience to represent you.
